Located at the foot of Qingcheng taoist mountain , Chengdu Dujiangyan Panda Valley or Panda Reintroduction Program of Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Base was established in 2012 . It covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers and house around 20 giant pandas and another 40 red pandas .
This project is going to be panda reintroduction program . As director , Zhangzhihe said in Beijing in 2011 , Chengdu panda valley will be the training base for captive pandas reintroduced in the wild . The surrounding mountain is the hometown of the wild pandas together with red panda , monkeys , black bears and so on .
